On April 18, the world celebrates the International Day of Monuments and Sites, in Ukraine – the Day of Historical and Cultural Monuments. The purpose of the events held on this day is to inform the public about the diversity of cultural heritage, its vulnerability and the need for preservation. In Ukraine, the issue of preserving historical and cultural monuments has become extremely relevant in the context of the war, which has already destroyed dozens of important objects of Ukrainian history.
The college library department has prepared a thematic exhibition “Uzhgorod through the prism of the ages”, which includes various materials on the history of ancient Uzhgorod: newspaper publications, tourist booklets containing information about local attractions, books dedicated to our city. College students have a great opportunity to familiarize themselves with these materials, which vividly illustrate different eras, which contributes to the formation of a sense of involvement in the history of their native land and an awareness of the value of preserving monuments for future generations.
On the occasion of the International Day of Monuments and Landmarks in Uzhgorod, an exciting quest was organized for college students. Participants received a series of riddles, each of which indicated the location of one of the famous mini-sculptures of the city. Divided into teams, the students set out in search of these tiny symbols of Uzhgorod. The task of the quest was not only to find the necessary objects, but also to do it as quickly as possible, which added an element of competition. Wandering the streets, students not only solved puzzles, but also discovered new interesting places and details of the city space. Such an event was a great way to celebrate the importance of preserving monuments and draw attention to the history and culture of Uzhgorod.
