On May 2, two distinguished guests visited the VSP “UTEFK DTEU”: Vasyl Gusti, a poet and prose writer known not only in Transcarpathia, and Mykhailo Basarab, vice-rector for scientific work of the Augustyn Voloshyn Carpathian University. The meeting was an event that combined the literary word, historical memory, and spiritual enrichment.
At the beginning of the event, Mykhailo Basarab solemnly presented the college director, Serhiy Voloshchuk, with a monograph on the history of the Uzhhorod Gymnasium, a landmark educational center of the region. The vice-rector told the students about the outstanding figures who once studied within these walls: Oleksandr Dukhnovych, Avgustyn Voloshyn, Mykhailo Luchkai and others, emphasizing the deep cultural and historical roots of our region.
Vasyl Petrovych Gusti, laureate of the All-Ukrainian Zoreslav Prize, regional Vakarov and Potushniak Prizes, the Babydorich Journalist Prize, holder of the honorary badge “For the Development of Transcarpathia”, the NSPU medal “Honorary Distinction”, as well as the Pavlo Tychyna Prize, continued his spiritual journey.
Students of groups I “TLD” “A” and II “PT” had a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of creativity of the master of words, who gave an inspired guest lecture. In his speech, the past and the present were intertwined, the search for inspiration and dreams, personal experiences and deep reflections – all this found a poetic and prose reflection on paper.
The poet’s words touched the innermost depths of the soul, fascinated with sincerity, caused reflection and admiration. His works are a mirror of spirituality, willpower, tenderness and depth, written with great skill and boundless love for his native land.
A separate block of the meeting was devoted to stories about prominent personalities of Transcarpathia – Augustyn Voloshyn, Mariyka Pidhiryanka, Andriy Patrus-Karpatsky. Vasyl Gusti conducted a brief tour of their life and creative paths, recalling their invaluable contribution to the cultural heritage of the region.
The highlight of the event was the author’s reading of poems and humorous stories, which the poet recited with extraordinary emotionality and his inherent Transcarpathian warmth. His poetic word, colorful speech and subtle humor created the atmosphere of a real spiritual holiday.
This meeting gave the young people not only new knowledge, but also real inspiration, awakened interest in Ukrainian poetry, and contributed to a deeper understanding of the art of words.
